THE BRITISH TAG

Seeing as we're so far away from each other now (a two and a half hour drive *heartbroken emoji*) doing a blog post together isn't going to be very easy so we thought we'd do The British Tag! We have seen a few other bloggers and YouTubers doing it so we thought we'd jump on the bandwagon!

We hope you enjoy pointlessly reading about what our fave biscuits are and whether we drink tea or not! We'd love too know what yours are!!

Crystal
1 - How many cups of tea do you have a day and how many sugars?
I'm not sure if this is breaking the whole 'Being British' thing but I don't actually like tea! I drink 1-4 cups of green tea a day, at a push! Coffee is ma thaang.

Salma
1 - How many cups of tea do you have a day and how many sugars?
I like to mix it up with my teas - usually I have a coffee in the morning and green tea during the day and night. I do drink tea if there's no green tea in - black, no sugars (boring I know)
2 - Favourite dunking biscuit?
Ooo this is hard!! If you know about the penguin dunk then that's my fave thing to do. also caramel digestives are divine.
3 - Favourite part of your roast?
Gravy smothered veg!!
4 - Cockney rhyming slang?
Hank Marvin... (All the time)
5 - Favourite sweet?
Cherry Drops. 'cherrydropissalma' was my bebo name... Cringe!! Lol
6 - Favourite quintessentially British pastime?
Going for Afternoon Tea! #yummy
7 - What would your pub be called?
Sal's Trusty Tavern
8 - No.1 British person?
David Beckham *droool*
9 - Favourite shop/restaurant?
Gotta go with Monk on this one, Harrods! (If I had a larger purse)
10 - Favourite word?
Indeed
11 - What British song pops in to your head?
'Yeeeah you really got me goinn' You Really Got Me - The Kinks. Tuune
12 - Marmite?
Not a lover, not a hater - smack bang in the middle, depends if I fancy it.

FRESHER

OH EM GEE. I am officially a fresher. I can't quite believe the time has finally arrived where I am a ferry and a long drive away from home staying in a single bed with a bunch of people I don't know. I'm not really selling it here am I. Jokes aside; I am totally loving it.

I'll begin with the journey to university.... Interesting to say the least. After a good 2 hours of shuffling and reshuffling all of my stuff in Ella's car, it just about fit in (leaving little to nil leg room for myself and poor Monk) however we got it all in so we  got over the first hurdle thankfully. We head off on Saturday morning (the day after the night before; one too many) where it appeared I had broken my foot. It turns out wine and heels do not mix. Hobbling my way to a FOUR HOUR wait at the hospital was certainly not how I expected to spend my first day at university, especially to find out my foot was in fact not broken and just severely bruised (sorry Crik and Els for the prolific time wasting). Never the less I was relieved it was nothing serious!!

As we all know, food is my favourite thing in life. Saddo. So my first food shop I was SOOO looking forward too! It turns out shopping on a broken.... Bruised foot isn't the easiest of tasks therefore I was wheeled around a bit like this #insertembarrasingphoto

We did have a lot of fun whizzing around Kingston's local asda, despite the funny looks....

LOL the lady on the left clearly wanted in on the selfie!!

My food shop was succesful/ish... Mainly consisting of beans, more beans and alcohol! The joys of student life.

Moving in would've been impossible without Ella and Crystal as I couldn't actually lift my own body weight on my foot, let alone a million boxes! They also helped me sort my entire room and gave me a huge surprise when I arrived......

The most amazing hamper full of everything I could possibly need for uni; from Shampoo/Conditioner to strawberry bonbons, cookbooks, ornaments, photo frames, PIG shape whisks... You name it - I've got it!! The theme of the hamper was pink as you can see... Which is my absolute favourite colour!!! I am SO so greatful for all my gorgeous gifts from the hamper and also my other leaving presents! THANKYOU FRIENDS ❤️ Missing you already *weeps* :-(

This is the end result of my room....

I haven't actually figured where my laptop/ study books are going to go yet... Don't judge 🙈. I love my little room so much now it is filled with all my pretty newbies and sacred items!

I will be posting another post regarding my first week living as a student to let ya'll know what I've been up too!

Hope you enjoyed.... FROG ❤️xxx

A GUIDE TO RUINING YOUR LIFE

The feeling of being 'stuck in a rut' and feeling like you're on a road to no-where is a well felt feeling of mine! And I can't imagine me being the only one. In reality very few people are in the position to be able to visage what they will be doing 10 years down the line... And yes, it is an extremely scary thought. What with thousands off to uni in hope they land their dream career and people with their 9-5 jobs in hope to accumulate enough money to do all the things in life that are a MUST. Such as getting a Range Rover in every colour and visiting the Maldives whenever we're feeling low! We can dream, right?

However seeing this quote on more occasion than one has given me a glimmer of hope! Who are we kidding? I can't even successfully load a dishwasher so the chance of having my life together is nil. Also being in two minds about life makes the whole situation 10x more confusing.

Stay in and save our money in order to be able to do all of the nice things in life?
Go out party all day and night? After all life is way too short!

I believe the main issue surrounding these negative thoughts are the media. DON'T get me wrong, I have OCD when it comes to the Daily Mail. Refreshing everytime I get a chance and oogling over celebrities and their perfect worlds. What with Kylie and Kendall being two of the most talked about teenagers on the planet, we don't have much hope in feeling positive about our bog standard, day-in-day-out lives.

Truth is... We needn't have bog standard, day-in-day-out lives. Go and do whatever makes you happy!... Making excuses for ourselves is too easy. (Easier said than done, I know!!) Following our dreams seem way out of reach but really, we're all just too lazy to pursue them! It just takes that extra bit of courage to reach them! We're too easily sucked in to others opinions, whether it be our parents, our friends, the media or a randomer you over hear talking in Topshop changing rooms!

Our time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - living with the results of other peoples thinking! Don't let others paths of life make you lose track of your own. Most importantly find the courage to follow your heart and intuition. Somehow them two things already know what you truly want to become... Everything else is secondary and irrelevant!!

" If today were your last day on this earth, would you do what you're about to do today?" - Steve Jobs.

Have fun following your dreams!

OLIV-OH-MY-gosh

Going out to dinner is our all time favourite thing to do. Monk and I are total foodies therefore love trying new restaurants and indulging into delicious meals.

This weekend we had a dough be whammy celebration.... My leaving do (I'm off too the wonderful land of uni) and our friend Jodie's 21st. As a result we hit up our local fave Italian restaurant Olivos. There are actually 2 on the island, one in Newport and the other in Ryde. On this occasion we opted for the Ryde one and it certainly didn't disappoint.

We skipped starter as I usually find it fills me up before my main, I chose the spaghetti marinara for main which was absolutely delicious if you're into having half the sea lurching on your plate (my idea of perfection!). The other girls chose a variety of pasta dishes, all just as delicious.

Here is a pic of my main drooool

For dessert Monk and I couldn't decide between the banoffee pie and apple and cinnamon cheesecake so we opted to share both; tactical thinking ;)

Brace yourself!!

Incredible right?! Both were presented beautifully and absolutely tantalising for our tastebuds! A definite reccomendation!

So if you're looking to eat out on the Isle of Wight then Olivos is a must try, we have been many times and always had a lovely experience. Also great value for money!! Or if you've been before and haven't tried these dishes then you're missing out.... Go indulge!!

JUST WHY?

Excuse me, please... Oo sorry, excuse me... Hi sorry, can I get passed?
HELLO?
MOVE!?!

You're all with me yeah?

Ok. We all have a pet reeve, right? Well in my case I tend to have a few things that really tick all of my boxes. Don't get me wrong... I'm pretty easy going but we're only human and there is only so much one can take?
If people were to keep their irritating traits locked tightly away behind closed doors I'm sure the world would be a much calmer place.

I thought I'd share with you things that seriously grind my gears!! I'm pretty certain I'm not alone. (I hope I'm not anyway, otherwise I will feel pretty mean!)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

1 - THE DAWDLE

If you fancy taking a leisurely stroll down the street with a pushchair fit for quadruplets, then that is absolutely fine... But please move so I can get past you! I don't get it. It's a public footpath yet certain people make you feel like you really shouldn't be walking on pavements?! Jesus.
Oh and pleeease put your umbrella down. I came out with two eyes, I'd quite like to return with two aswell!

2 - MATE

Ah, lovely! You've spotted a friend!
I'm all for stopping for a quiet chit chat, but seriously. Shouting MATE or some other delightful nickname one end of the high street to other, really isn't appropriate. Especially when I am standing a metre away from you and I jump 10ft in the air.

3 - NO WORRIES, YOU'RE WELCOME

It seems a vast majority of the population never quite got to grips with the words please and thank you! You should try it sometime, it really isn't too difficult!

4 - DO YOU EVEN HAVE A LICENCE?

Give way to your right and all that? WTF are you doing?!
ITS GREEN. GO.
You'd rather have a fag than let me know which way you're turning? Indicate!!!

5 - GROSS

Nothing better than being absolutely starving, going to a nice a restaurant and ordering some food that you reaaally fancy!
But of course, it's not that simple.

That guy in the corner... He keeps picking his nose?!
OMG seriously, close your mouth when you're eating!
Eww, baby sick.

6 - COOL, YOU LIKE PUNK ROCK

I don't!! Headphones are made for a reason.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

It's only natural to have a rant every now again, right?

Don't get me wrong, I'm no saint but I really do find it amusing how we all have this amazing ability to grind each others gears so well!

BRONZED AND BEAUTIFUL

Living in England, feeling beautifully bronzed is a true rarity! With unpredictable weather and little chance to hit the sun when it does kindly appear due to work commitments etc. So when we are looking to get a bit of an extra glow and make ourselves feel like we've been on a 5* holiday to Bora Bora what better way than to hit the bottle. Of fake tan that is.

Finding the perfect sun in a bottle can be a difficult task, no one wants to come out looking like a piece of streaky bacon or better still an oopma lumpa. Admittedly I've experienced both looks and it's safe to say I did not feel bronzed and certainly not beautiful.

I went on a bit of a fake tan haul in hope to find the perfect one, from high end to high street, instant to develop, I have tried and tested the lot and here is what a thought!

(From left to right: St Moriz Instant Self Tan Mousse, St Tropez Luxe a Dry Oil, Piz Buin Mist Spray, St Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mist, Expose Tanning Mouse)

St Moriz is my go too for a good coverage, bargain fake tan. I've used this for ages as I know it works for me so I was totally chuffed when I saw it on boots shelf for just £5. Previously I've had to order online as high street stores never stocked the product. Both the ones I use are instant, personally I prefer the mouse to the spray as sometimes you can still see where the spray has dotted onto your pins (not a great look).

The Piz Buin spray is a developing tan so is better if you want to look tanned for more than just the one day/night. It's a nice even coverage and gives you a good glow without being too orange.

As for the St Tropez oil - I saw this in M&S when there was 20% off on beauty so I had to try it out. This is a new product and I had read some good reviews so I thought I'd give it a go. It's got a lovely lemony scent unlike most fake tans smell; and the final effect is lovely. It is a bit strange using an oil however it isn't greasy and dries within minutes. Definitely reccomend!

For the last, and possibly least fave of the fake tans is Expose. What did I expect for £1 (poundland special) it is a developing tan and left me looking like I belonged in willy wonkas chocolate factory. Not such a good look, maybe if I'd used a lighter layer it wouldn't have been so bad or possible if your skin tone is darker. Certainly not for ghostly looking humans that's for sure.

Hope you enjoyed this post- sorry it's been so long! Trying and testing a million fake tans takes longer than expected! Also it's been a hectic couple of weeks with Bestival and packing for uni but we will be back in action in no time!
